JAMIE SWING BIO

TwinSoul, Sunshine People, Brighter Days

Oakland based DJ/Producer Jamie Swing experienced his first warehouse party in 1994. While there were various styles of music in each room that night, it was the House music room where he stayed. He quickly connected with party promoters, DJ’s, and dancers, then soon decided to put his own signature on the scene. In 1995, he set out to do just that. Now, spanning over two decades amongst House Music’s finest, he continues to make a name for himself as an Artist.

Influenced early on by Chicago House, Jamie incorporates this into each of his signature sets whether it’s funky, deep, or jackin’. In 1997, he made his Northwest debut opening for Donald Glaude at the Kitsap Pavilion in Washington. He continued to play events in Washington over the years including the infamous NAF Studios Warehouse in Seattle. He would, again, return to NAF to play on the main stage for New Year’s Eve to bring in the year 2000.

In 2007, Jamie began splitting his time as, both, a DJ and promoter curating his own events with close DJ friends. Together, they brought out some of House music’s top Artists, and this opened the door to work and play alongside those who influenced him most like DJ Sneak, Fred Everything, JT Donaldson, DJ Heather, Mark Farina, and Iz & Diz.

Since 2012, he’s been a part of the Bay Area DJ Collective, Sunshine People, formed with fellow DJ friends who have seen their day parties grow over the years that have included talent such as Sunshine Jones, Tony Hewitt, Blakkat, Mazi, David Harness, Reelsoul, Jay-J, Mr. V., Matthias “Matty” Heilbronn, Galen, and Sandy Rivera (Kings of Tomorrow).

Jamie has enjoyed quite the ride playing at all of the Bay Area’s top music venues (past and present) like Maritime Hall, Wish, Club Six, 1015 Folsom, The EndUp, DNA Lounge, Luna Lounge/F8, Bar Fluxus, Mars Bar, Butter, Monroe, Mighty, The Great Northern, Temple, Monarch, Hawthorn, Audio, and Halcyon.

For Halcyon, he was a rotating support DJ since they opened in 2017, and in 2019, he joined the team for their inaugural 4-day festival, E Komo Mai in Honolulu, Hawaii, where he opened for UK Artist, Jacky.

Jamie Swing has been the opening support DJ for some of House Music’s biggest names like DJ Heather, DJ Sneak, Danny Tenaglia, Todd Terry, Derrick Carter, Roger Sanchez, Marquess Wyatt, Rich Medina, Demuir, Purple Disco Machine, Sam Divine, Bontan, and Franky Rizardo.

With gigs played all over the Bay Area, Chicago, New York, Washington, Miami, Hawaii, Mexico, Burning Man, Croatia, various Humboldt County venues, and Kilifi in Kenya, Jamie Swing looks forward to seeing where the world of electronic music takes him. He’s now putting his attention to making music and released his first track, ‘Bay Jazz’ with Producer Stranger Danger on Cabbie Hat Recordings. More music is in the works so look out for future release projects and collaborations. We’re excited for what’s to come!
